On the evening of July 4th, the 14th China Children's Theatre Festival, jointly organized by China National Theatre for Children(CNTC), Government of Dongcheng District of Beijing, and China Children’s Drama Society (ASSITEJ China), opened in Beijing, China.
This year, the festival is themed "Lighting up Childhood and Shaping the Future", will be held from July 4th to August 17th inviting 42 plays of 21 theatres from 4 countries having 185 performances, meeting the theatrical art needs of audiences of all ages. Over the past 14 years, with the continual expand of the brand influence of China Children's Theatre Festival, more and more outstanding works from China and abroad are participating in. After 6 years of absence of ground performance, the festival starts to invite international shows performing lively again. Four international plays were invited including Chatungla from Teatro Silfo(Spain), Once Upon A Time Two Feet from Veronica Gonzalez and the Feet Theatre(Italy), Little Red Riding Hood from La Luna nel Letto(Italy) and The Ugly Duckling from U?aneller Kuklaevi(Turkey).
Mr. Dali GE, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 14th China Children's Theatre Festival, President of CNTC, mentioned in his speech that CNTC will celebrate it’s 70th anniversary of establishment in 2026, the theatre welcomes more groups and artists from China and abroad to gather together in Beijing.
China Children's Theatre Festival is the first national children's theatre festival in China. Founded in 2011, it has gathered 563 plays of 339 art institutions from 35 countries and regions across five continents, with 2553 online and live performances, benefiting more than 47 million audiences. It has become the longest running, widest radiating children’s theatre event with the highest number of performances in China.
